What is Ectopic Pregnancy?

This is a pregnancy where a fertilized egg instead of growing in the uterus grows within a
fallopian tube. As the egg grows, the fallopian tube wall gets stretched and eventually
ruptures.

Causes

1. Previous damage to the fallopian tube.
2. Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Clinical Features

1. Sudden severe pain in the abdomen to one side.
2. Bleeding and collapse.

Management

1. Immediate evacuation to a hospital.
2. Blood transfusion.
