Hyperventilation

Hyperventilation occurs when an individual experiences an emotional fright, upset or stress. It is characterized by a shallow, rapid breathing pattern, whereby too much carbon
dioxide is removed from the body: This causes feelings of dizziness and tingling, and may cause the individual to panic. Adequate carbon dioxide levels can be restored and the symptoms controlled by encouraging the individual to breath into a paper bag held over his or her nose and mouth for .up to four minutes.
