Snake bites can be fatal. It's essential to react rapidly to bites. Pain and swelling constantly follow the bite of a poisonous snake. Rapidly the pain is felt and it is followed by inflammation. If the fang occurs to enter a vein, the poison is rapidly carried all over the body. In non-poisonous snakes bites, there are just scores or bruises.
Snakes commonly bite in self-protection. Put on high boots to defend feet. Young children should be trained the risk of handling snakes and other reptiles. At all times avoid using bare hands over rock ledges where snakes may be lurking.

First Aid for Snake bites
- Clean the bite with fresh water and soap.
- Allow the bleeding to impede by itself unless it is stern.
- If the bite is on the hand or arm eradicate any rings, watches or tight clothing.
- Get medical help without delay.
