The nausea and retching of violent sickness are extremely distressing. It makes little disparity what the cause is, the sensations are almost the same; and one cannot tell from the sensation how serious the condition may be. The vomit can be black, brown or clear akin to water. The majority of cases of short-lived vomiting are because of a viral infirmity or food poisoning and the occurrence of a bacterial toxin.
Cures for Violent or Persistent Vomiting
Seek the patient with a teaspoonful of cold water, milk or orange juice. Give just one spoonful each five minutes by the clock. After an hour or two provide a tablespoonful every ten minutes. If he does not endure this, provide a little water by rectum. This will be engrossed, and be of help as though he took it by mouth.
Very often there is diarrhea through the vomiting. Most often there is constipation with appendicitis but there can be diarrhea. Paregoric can be specified every half hour for three or four doses or until the diarrhea stops. One teaspoonful is the exact dosage. In case the patient vomits the medicine, replicate the dose when settled.
